Subject: Breaking News from the University of Nursing, St. Kitts
Dear CCC Transfer Center Counselors,
I am pleased to announce that the International University of Nursing (IUON) has been approved by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) to participate in the Federal Direct Student Loan Program. IUON is the only international nursing school to receive approval from the DOE since the new law allowing foreign nursing schools to participate in the Title IV program came into effect one year ago. The ability to obtain low interest federal loans will allow many more students the opportunity to attend nursing school. This is a great accomplishment for IUON that took years to realize. We are proud that IUON has been approved by the Department of Education and has now satisfied all the educational requirements to participate in the federal student loan program.
International University of Nursing was the vision of its founder, Dr. Robert Ross who recently passed away. Today, we honor Dr. Robert Ross, with the achievement of this new milestone in his mission of preparing qualified professionals to meet the growing shortage of our global nursing community. As of this date, eligible students and parents may now qualify for a variety of student loans including Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans, and Direct PLUS Loans. The financial aid department will be posting on our website further information on each of these programs including eligibility requirements, FAFSA documentation, and details on the loan application process. Students interested in learning more about financial aid should contact Jane Sutter, Director of Financial Aid, at 212-868-4720 x641 or jsutter@iuon.org. Students who are interested in a career in nursing, and would like to get started today, should consider what IUON has to offer:
• IUON is one of the only international nursing schools partnered with fully accredited U.S. and Canadian nursing schools where students complete their final year
• Graduates receive a BSN degree from both IUON and our U.S partner school
• Pass rates on the U.S. licensing examination (NCLEX) for 2011 is over 95%
• Graduates are licensed and practicing throughout the U.S.
• Traditional Upper Division Nursing Program that can be completed in two years
• Three annual entry dates: September, January, and May
• Dedicated faculty that are highly credentialed and recruited primarily from the U.S.
• Small classes emphasizing individual attention
• A unique educational opportunity that allows the students to complete their education both in the Caribbean and U.S. or Canada.
• Our St. Kitts Campus is state of the art and is comparable to the best nursing schools in the U.S.
We are also pleased to announce our next teleconference meeting for students interested in learning more about the International University of Nursing. This is a great opportunity for students to hear first hand from senior administrators, students, and alumni about our state of the art nursing school. Throughout the program students are encouraged to ask questions about any aspect of the program. The Teleconference Info Session will be Wednesday July 13th at 8 pm EST. The call in number is 1-800-891-4489, Conference Code ID: 79999533 Our past participants really enjoyed the exchange and learned a tremendous amount about IUON. If you are seriously considering a career in nursing, we urge you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. In the interim, we invite you to visit our website (www.iuon.org) to learn more about IUON. We look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Warren Ross, President International University of Nursing, St. Kitts 460 W 34th Street, New York, NY 10001 212-868-4720 .
