Dear Transfer Center Directors and Community College Counselors,

This winter quarter, University of California, Irvine is offering, on an open enrollment basis, a number of its online undergraduate courses to the general public. This is an excellent opportunity for potential UCI transfers to satisfy general education and lower division requirements, completely online, without formal admission to the University. These courses carry UC undergraduate credit, and are taught by renowned UCI faculty.

Here is a list of tentative courses scheduled for winter quarter:

• Science Fiction and Science Fact
• Basic Statistics
• Transnational Gangs
• Introduction to Media Writing

Course enrollment is open November 4, 2011. Courses begin January 9, 2012. P

I would be happy to speak with any student who would like more information. Please have them contact me directly at ayngelmo@uci.edu or (949) 824-0697.

FREE WEBINAR
To give students a “taste” of an online UCI course, we will hosting a free webinar entitled “Science Fiction and Science Fact” next Thursday, October 27th from 11:30am – 12:30pm (PDT). I understand that most students will be in class at that time but all registrants will automatically receive a recording of the live session. Registrations for the webinar can be done at extension.uci.edu/events.

Attached is a flyer that provides more details about the courses and the webinar. I would appreciate your assistance in posting or forwarding the flyer along to your students.

Thank you in advance for your help. Have a wonderful rest of the day!

Sincerely,

Amanda Yngelmo
