UCSC Announces New Information Resource for Prospective Students -- the Slug Connection 05-26-10

Dear Colleagues,
UC Santa Cruz Admissions announces a new way for students to connect with our office: the Slug Connection. The Slug Connection is a personalized e-mail service that students can use to get important updates, news, deadline information, and advice. Students can also get specialized information for former foster youth and military veterans. Designed for current high school or community college students who are planning to apply to UCSC this year or who are just starting to think about colleges, the Slug Connection is an excellent resource for students to learn more about UCSC!
To register for the Slug Connection, students go to admissions.sa.ucsc.edu/prospect to give us their contact information and a few facts about themselves, such as whether they will apply as frosh or transfers, when they plan to apply, and what information they are most interested in receiving from us. We will keep students' information secure and private.
Once they are signed up, students will receive periodic updates from UCSC Admissions in their e-mail, based on the interests they indicated. Students may go back to admissions.sa.ucsc.edu/prospect at any time and change their contact information or interest settings, or unsubscribe.
The Slug Connection includes information on:
• Important dates and deadlines in the application process
• Freshman and transfer admissions
• Admissions events and tour opportunities
• Opportunities to connect with UCSC Admissions representatives -- in person or online
• News and events on campus
• Majors and career paths
• Financial aid and scholarships

• Specialized information for former foster youth and military veterans
For your own information, please note that counselors may sign up for eSlug, the counselor version of the Slug Connection, which includes a quarterly newsletter.
