Subj: CSUEB 2011 Admission Notice

Dear Colleagues:

California State University, East Bay would like to update you on some important admission information that may affect you as an advisor for prospective Cal State East Bay students.

Cal State East Bay will be accepting upper-division transfer applications for Spring Quarter 2011; applications will be accepted
Aug. 1 - Aug. 31.  However, because the California Governor and Legislature have not yet adopted a budget, CSU does not know how many students it funding to support an increase in CSU’s enrollment.  Once a budget is adopted, CSUEB’s Office of Admission will notify students about their options:
(1) if the budget provides funding to increase CSU enrollment, CSUEB will finalize its review of students’ admission eligibility for the Spring
     2011 quarter, or
(2) if the budget does not provide additional funding to increase CSU’s enrollment, students will have the option either of
     (a) requesting that their admission application be changed from Spring 2011 to the Fall 2011 quarter, or
     (b) requesting that their admission application be withdrawn and the application fee be refunded.

The only Spring applicants who will be guaranteed evaluation are current and former members of the military.  Students in this category should contact the Office of Admission at admissions@csueastbay.edu for special application instructions.

The next available term of entry for which we are sure we will be able to process and admit qualified applicants who apply on time and meet all deadlines and requirements is Fall 2011; applications will be accepted Oct. 1-Nov. 30.  Also, please make note of the important Fall 2011 admission updates below as Cal State East Bay has declared campus impaction for upper division transfer applicants.

Upper Division Transfer – Fall 2011 Campus Impaction:
  • Cal State East Bay has declared campus impaction for Fall 2011 upper division transfer applicants.  Students must be fully CSU-eligible applicants for upper division transfer admission, who have completed 50 percent or more of their previous college units at community colleges or four year colleges or universities within Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Solano, Marin, Napa, and/or Sonoma counties.
  • Applicants will be admitted to CSU East Bay subject to their having met all of the published CSU East Bay admission requirements.
  • Students within the above mentioned counties shall be ranked by grade point average achieved in all transferable college work attempted and admitted until the available openings are filled.
  • Students who have completed less than 50 percent of their coursework outside of the local admission areas will be selected based on a GPA ranking which will be determined after the November 30 deadline.
  • Additionally, Cal State East Bay has two impacted majors: Business Administration and Nursing.  Supplemental applications are required.  Please visit the respective department website for full program impaction details.
Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG):
