o SELECTIVE MAJORS AND COLLEGES:
Art Majors: Junior transfer students are accepted into the art major after passing the portfolio review in April. The UC application and the Art Department Portfolio Review application are separate and independent processes. Being accepted to UC Santa Cruz does not guarantee that you will pass the portfolio review, and passing the portfolio review does not guarantee admission to UC Santa Cruz. More information on the portfolio review can be found at art.ucsc.edu or by calling the Art Department at (831) 459-3551.
Jack Baskin School of Engineering: Acceptance into any Jack Baskin School of Engineering (BSOE) major will be based on completion of and grades earned in the individual department's foundation courses, in addition to the overall college academic record. IGETC is not recommended for engineering transfer students. The foundation courses required for admission to BSOE majors are described at ugrad.soe.ucsc.edu/admissions. For more information, e-mail soeadmissions@soe.ucsc.edu or call (831) 459-5840. Please note: IGETC is not recommended for engineering transfer students.
o TAG NOTES: To be considered for a TAG, students must meet the following criteria at the time the TAG is submitted:
- Student must be enrolled at a California community college.
- Student must have completed a minimum of 30 UC-transferable semester (45 quarter) units of course work with a minimum UC GPA of 3.0.
- Student must demonstrate adequate preparation in the subject areas of English composition (first course must be completed no later than fall 2012) and mathematics if these requirements have not yet been completed successfully.
- Students who have attended a four-year collegiate institution must have completed fewer than 20 semester/30 quarter units of UC-transferable credit.
- Students must NOT have attended any colleges or universities outside of the U.S..
- Filing period is September 1-30.
- For other criteria, see: 2012-2013 UCSC TAG: http://admissions.ucsc.edu/publications/tag-flyer12.pdf.
□ IGETC: UC Santa Cruz will accept IGETC from students who have attended a different UC campus before enrolling at a community college; such students may use the UC coursework to help certify IGETC. It is preferred that students take at least half of their transfer credits at the community college.
∆ Transfer students intending to pursue any major in the Physical and Biological Sciences or the Jack Baskin School of Engineering should NOT follow IGETC because it will NOT provide them with enough lower-division preparation for their majors.
