o UPPER DIVISION TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS:
The pathway for transferring to the University of California, Merced involves 3 steps.
- Satisfying Admission Requirements - Students must complete the eligibility requirements for transferring to the University of California. UC Merced accepts both junior level and lower-division students.
- Major Preparation - These are lower division courses which can be completed in your first two years of college work. Major preparation is one of the central factors UC Merced uses to determine your admissions to the University. This course work is required for graduation in your specific major and fulfills prerequisites for upper division courses at UC Merced.
- General Education - Although not a requirement, completing lower division general education requirements prior to transfer will aid your progress towards graduation. IGETC, the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum, is accepted by the School of Natural Sciences at UC Merced but is only specifically suggested by the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.
- If you are majoring in Engineering, the School of Engineering recommends that you do not complete IGETC. It is not required that you complete your lower division general
education courses prior to transfer; however, this course work must be completed prior to graduation from UC Merced.
NEW TAG REQUIREMENTS FOR FALL 2013
- Be enrolled full time at a California community college (Contact Admissions about exceptions are possible for part-time students).
- Complete 30 UC transferable units.
- Earned a minimum GPA of 2.8. If your majoring in Engineering and Psychology you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Complete the minimum eligibility requirements for admission in English and Math by the end of the Spring 2013 term.
- Complete the academic criteria listed for your major by the end of the Spring 2013 term with a grade of "C" or better.
- Complete 60 UC Transferable units by the end of the Spring 2013 term.

□ IGETC:
The Schools of Engineering and Natural Sciences accept but do not recommend IGETC. UC Merced will accept IGETC from students who have attended a different UC campus before enrolling at a community college. UC coursework may be used to certify IGETC.
