o UNDERGRADUATE SCHOOLS & COLLEGES:
Academic and research options are offered through more than 80 undergraduate degree programs in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, School of Biological Sciences, Henry Samueli School of Engineering, School of Humanities, Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Social Ecology, School of Social Sciences, Paul Merage School of Business and programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing Science and Public Health. UC Irvine offers excellent professional schools in the fields of medicine, law, business, education and the arts.

UPPER DIVISION TRANSFER ADMISSION:

Students transferring to UCI must satisfy the UCI general education (GE) requirement by completing either...

  • The current UCI GE requirement.
  • One of the options listed in the Catalog Rights section.
  • The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum.
  • Deadline for completing 60 units is prior to enrollment. However, Admission priority is given to applicants who complete the 60 unit minimum by the spring. The required English and Math must be completed by spring. Note: UCI typically does not admit students for winter or spring term.
  • In general, admission decisions for many majors at UCI depend on the competitiveness of the applicant pool as demonstrated by level and quality of preparation. Preparation for certain majors is essential, including completion of specified prerequisites and college GPAs.
    These majors include:
    - Biological Sciences                              - Biomedical Computing                       - Business Administration
    - Business Information Management     - Chemistry                                           - Computer Science
    - Computer Game Science                     - Computer Science and Engineering   - Earth and Environmental Sciences
    - Dance and Music: Applicants must audition and be selected by department faculty.
    - Economics (all majors)                        - Engineering                                        - Informatics
-Information and Computer Science     - Mathematics                                       - Nursing Science
    - Pharmaceutical Sciences                    - Physics                                                - Public Health Policy
    - Public Health Sciences                       - Criminology                                         - Law and Society
    - Psychology and Social Behavior: Applicants to either major may be subject to additional GPA screening
  • Application Tips for Counselors and Students Fall 2012: Presenting Yourself on the UC Application (Including the Personal Statement) [PPT].
  • Transfer students should not feel that the UCI GE requirement must be completed prior to matriculating to UCI. The GE requirement, which must be completed prior to graduation, may be satisfied by college-level courses appropriate to UCI offerings and may be met at any time during the undergraduate years, except in the case of the lower-division writing requirement, which must be completed within the first three quarters of residency at UCI.
