LOWER DIVISION TRANSFERS: admission consideration will be given to a limited number of highly qualified lower-division transfer applicants to Engineering and Nursing who meet minimum CSU admission criteria and complete specific prerequisites. CSULB is closed to all other lower-division transfer applicants.

UPPER DIVISION TRANSFERS: CSULB is impacted for many of its upper-division transfer majors and expects to utilize supplemental criteria for all upper-division transfer admissions. All upper-division transfer applicants must:
- Apply during the initial filing period.
- Must apply to a specific major, and are strongly encouraged to identify an alternate major.
Students applying to impacted majors will be considered for admission based on meeting minimum CSU criteria and the supplemental criteria for the specific major. CSU eligible students applying to non-impacted majors will be considered for available spaces based on overall GPA. Upper-division transfer applicants to non-impacted majors who last attended Long Beach City College and completed 30 or more transferable units there, will be considered for admission using CSU system wide admission eligibility criteria.

COMPETITIVE ADMISSION FOR TRANSFERS: CSULB continues to be a high-demand campus and expects to receive more applications than can be accommodated. To maintain the quality of CSULB's academic programs and services, supplemental admissions criteria will be applied to transfer applicants. All transfer applicants must apply during the initial filing period (October 1 – November 30) to a specific major. To be considered in the competitive round of admission consideration, transfer applicants must have successfully completed all minimum CSU admission criteria.  This criteria can be found at: http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/transfers.html#competitive.

^ IMPACTED STATUS:  Impacted for first-time freshmen and upper-division transfers. Supplementary admission criteria are in place for impacted programs in: Athletic Training, Art (studio and BFA), Biology, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Communicative Disorders, Criminal Justice, Design, Film and Electronic Arts, Health Science, Kinesiology (options in Exercise Science and Kinesiotherapy), Liberal Studies, Nursing, Psychology, and Social Work. See: http://www.calstate.edu/sas/publications/documents/ImpactedProgramsMatrix.pdf. □ For impacted major specifics, see: http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/impacted_major.html

□ CSULB does not encourage applicants with a transfer GPA less than 2.5 to apply to any of the impacted majors. For more information on Fall 2010 admission results, see Transfer GPA Information. For more, see: http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/impacted_major.html.

UPPER DIVISION SUPPLEMENTAL REQUIREMENTS (BY MAJOR): http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/impacted_major_upper.html. Applicants to non-impacted majors who meet the minimum CSU criteria as outlined above will be considered in the competitive round. Admission offers will be based on the applicants' overall transfer grade point average and space availability. Applicants to non-impacted majors who are transferring directly from Long Beach City College, Orange Coast College Golden West College, or Coastline College, and have completed at least 30 units from these schools will be held to the minimum CSU criteria listed above.

CSULB strongly recommends completion of General Education Certification for all majors except Liberal Studies, Engineering and certain academic programs in the Natural Sciences.
