UPPER DIVISION ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: The following information for Upper Division Admission Requirements was extracted from the new 2012/13 CSU Campus Admission Specific Practices and Enrollment Resources Handbook.   • Admission & Registration Status Prior to Receipt of ALL Official Transcripts (Page 6):
    Final official transcripts must be received by deadline dates. Transcripts must be provided showing work in-progress. Conditional admission may be granted for work in-progress. Registration for courses permitted during Orientation.
  • Completion Dates for Upper Division Transfers in Communication in the English Language & Quantitative Reasoning (Page 10):
    - Fall 2012-complete by end of summer 2012.
    - Winter 2013-complete by end of fall 2012.
    - Spring 2013-complete by end of winter 2013.
  • Grades in Repeated Courses Taken From Different Colleges for Transfer (Page 9): 
    CSUB will honor the grading policy at the college at which the repeat was taken.
  • High Unit Majors with Authorized Exceptions to Admission & GE Breadth Requirements-Transfer Students (Page 11):
    Not applicable to CSUB.
  • Orientation(Pages 3): 
    - Transfer students are required to attend orientation.
    - The orientation fee of $35.00 is nonrefundable and subject to change without prior notice.

  • Registration Priorities for Upper Division Transfers (Page 12)
    - Registration order occurs with continuing students.
    - Registration grouping occurs at orientation to retain priority as an upper division transfer.
  • Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) and Enrollment Deposit (Page 2):
    The SIR and the required, refundable enrollment deposit of $100 is due July 2.
  • Transfer Certification & Double-Counting of Courses for Major Requirements (Page 8):
    - CSUB will allow courses to be double counted if articulated.
    - CSUB will allow fully or partially certified transfer applicants to double count courses towards (1) the American Institutions Requirement, and (2) GE Certification (either GE Breadth or IGETC).
    - CSUB will accept a DD-214 for elective units for all students and to clear Area E for GE-certified transfer students.
  • Transfer Credit Summary (Page 13):
    Upon receipt of all required completed transcripts, all matriculated students can view their degree progress report through self-service at http://mycsub.edu. Students are provided with their access information once they apply to the campus.
  • Transfer Students With Learning Disabilities-Completion of Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning Requirements for Admission & GE Breadth (Page 14):
    Considered on a case-by-case basis with review/recommendation from the Director of Services to Students with Disabilities taken into consideration by the Admissions.

 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • □ Meeting the CSU admissions requirement for first time freshman students by completing two years of high school coursework in the same language with a “C” or better.
  • Passing a CSUB administered Foreign Language challenge exam at the 101 or higher level.
  • Passing a CSUB Foreign Language course at the 101 or higher level, or equivalent. 
    - The Foreign Language requirement may be taken prior to transfer.
  • Completing a course focusing on gender, race, and ethnicity prior to graduation.
    - Courses approved for this equity requirement (Gender, Race, and Ethnicity) can not satisfy either Area or Theme requirements for General Education.
    - The Gender, Race, and Ethnicity requirement may be taken prior to transfer.
  • A second semester English course is not required for graduation.
  • Courses taken 10 or more years prior to the date of graduation cannot satisfy major, minor, or cognate requirements unless they are re-certified. Each department has a policy for recertification.
  • Completing no less than one course in United States history and one course in United States government or by examinations administered respectively by the History (FT
    304E, 654-3079) and Political Science Departments (BDC A248, 654-2141). The course in United States
    government must focus on both the federal government, including the United States Constitution, and the
    state and local government of California. Students who have completed their U.S. government course at
    an institution outside of California will not have satisfied the state and local government requirement and
    will be required to take an additional course or to pass the applicable examination.
    Courses that satisfy the United States history requirement include:
    • HIST 231 Survey of US History to 1865
    • HIST 232 Survey of US History Since 1865
    Courses that satisfy the United States and state/local government requirement include:
    • PLSI 101 American Government Politics
    • PPA 275 American Government & Public Administration
