□ ADMISSION CRITERIA:
- Cal Poly Pomona does not accept applications from Lower-Division Transfers (applicants who have completed less than 60 transferable semester college units (90 quarter units).
- Cal Poly Pomona will use supplemental criteria to admit transfers. All transfer applicants must apply during the initial filing period. A GPA will be calculated for transfers who are requested to submit initial transcripts from all institutions attended.
- Cal Poly Pomona will continue to admit all fully CSU eligible transfer applicants in Cal Poly Pomona’s local service area on the basis of CSU admission eligibility criteria. All other transfer applicants will be rank-ordered by GPA. The academic characteristics of the transfer applicant pool will determine the GPA cut-off and may vary from year to year.
- Approximately 20 percent of the transfer class may be admitted based on a rank-ordered GPA and additional characteristics, which include socioeconomic or educational factors, space availability in a unique program or major, indications of overcoming educational obstacles, or exceptional talents.
- All CSU subject matter requirements must be complete, in progress, or planned to be completed with a “C” or better and may not be completed during the summer term immediately preceding fall enrollment.

◊ UPPER DIVISION ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: The following information for Upper Division Admission Requirements was extracted from the new 2012/13 CSU Campus Admission Specific Practices and Enrollment Resources Handbook. Admission & Registration Status Prior to Receipt of ALL Official Transcripts(Page 7):
- Will admit provisionally prior to receipt of final transcripts. Final official transcript must be received by July 15.
- □ Students applying to impacted majors must submit initial official transcripts by January 31, 2012.
- Registration withheld until official transcript(s) is submitted showing successful completion of English composition and quantitative reasoning (grade of “C-” not acceptable for areas A and B4).
- Students must have completed 60 or more transferable semester units and GE areas A and B4 by end of spring.
- □ Impacted Programs – Animal Science, Animal Health Science and Architecture require Areas A and B4 to be completed by the end of the fall term in which the student applies to the program. -Cal Poly Pomona will admit students who select an alternate major and meet campus selection criteria earlier in the cycle.
-Hardcopy admission letters will be processed for all admitted students.
- The campus reserves the right to cancel an applicant’s admission for failure to submit timely transcripts verifying admission eligibility.

Completion Dates for Upper Division Transfers in Communication in the English Language & Quantitative Reasoning(Page 10):
- Fall 2012-complete by end of spring 2012.
- Winter 2013-Complete by end of summer 2012.
- Spring 2013-complete by end of fall 2012.
Grades in Repeated Courses Taken From Different Colleges for Transfer(Page 9):
Will honor the grading policy at the college at which the repeat was taken. If the college forgives the first attempt and it is noted on the official transcript, the forgiveness will be honored. If the college at which the course was repeated did not forgive the first attempt, the campus will calculate both attempts into the cumulative grade point average.
High Unit Majors with Authorized Exceptions to Admission & GE Breadth Requirements-Transfer Students (Page 11):
Not applicable to CalPoly Pomona.
Orientation (Pages 3):
- Transfer students are required to attend orientation to retain priority grouping.
- The orientation fee of $77.00 (1 day) $41.00 (parents/families-1 day) is nonrefundable and subject to change without notice.

Registration Priorities for Upper Division Transfers (Page 12):
- Registration order occurs after continuing students.
- Registration grouping occurs at orientation.
- Priority registration is included for transfer students during the orientation programs.
Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) and Enrollment Deposit (Page 2):
- The SIR and the required, nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $100 is due May 1 (within 2 weeks if admitted after May 1).
- □ Fee is payable on-line.
Transfer Certification & Double-Counting of Courses for Major Requirements (Page 8):
- Double counting is permitted between GE and support courses.
- CalPoly Pomona will allow fully or partially certified transfer applicants to double count courses towards (1) the American Institutions Requirement, and (2) GE Certification (either GE Breadth or IGETC).
- CalPoly Pomona will accept a DD-214 for elective units for all students and to clear Area E for GE-certified transfer students.
Transfer Credit Summary (Page 13):
At orientation. Orientation is mandatory for all new transfers.
Transfer Students With Learning Disabilities-Completion of Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning Requirements for Admission & GE Breadth
(Page 14): Considered on a case-by-case basis with review/recommendation from the Director of Disability Resource Center. The student’s academic major department has final approval.
□ GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
- There is a Multicultural/Ethnic Studies requirement that may be satisfied before transferring. Articulated GE or major courses may be used to fulfill this requirement.
- There is no foreign language, or second semester of English Composition campus requirements for graduation.
